Sharpen Your Gardening Skills: Free March Classes at Watters Garden Center

Free Garden Classes are offered every Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Watters Garden Center, 1815 Iron Springs Rd in Prescott.

 

March 2 @ 9:30am – Spring To-Do List for Better Gardens

Finally, a To-Do list you’ll actually enjoy! This class discusses all the garden “P’s”: Preparation, Prevention, Protection, and Pruning.

 

March 9 @ 9:30am  Evergreen Landscapes and Bark Beetles

This class covers not only the evergreens that grow most successfully but also the simple steps to protect them from stress and environmental intruders like borers, bark beetles, and more.

March 15 (Friday) – Flower Hour: The First Flowers for Spring **SPECIAL CLASS TIME 3:00 PM!**

You’ve heard of Happy Hour, but what about Flower Hour?! This special Friday afternoon garden class kicks off our 2024 Spring Open House by showcasing the first bloomin’ colors you’ve seen since winter and even new varieties you’ve never seen before! You’ll get first dibs on the plants that pack a colorful punch: Salvias, pansies, gaillardia, and more. It’s been a long winter, and we’re ready to put some life back in the landscape and spruce up our spruces. Join Ken Lain, the Top 10 Gardener, for this sneak peek at what’s fabulous and flowering to get your spring garden growing.

Advanced gardeners and newcomers alike will learn about all-things-spring this weekend as we go geeky with plants.

Watters Garden Center is hosting its 62nd annual Spring Open House for the entire weekend of March 15-17th

Get ready to see the newest, most unique, beautiful plants with vibrant color and vigor that not only beautify your home garden, but can thrive in our Northern Arizona soil. Experts, farmers, and growers are traveling from all over the country to show our local gardeners the best bloomers, elegant evergreens, and fragrant flowers.

It’s the ideal week to plant a new fruit, shade, or evergreen tree.

March 23 @ 9:30am  – Proper Planting in Mountain Soils

We’ll look in-depth at how to be successful when planting your personal paradise. We’ll discuss techniques for brighter, more beautiful gardens, and how to keep them healthy

 

March 30  @ 9:30 am – Growing Better Peonies this Spring

This class is an in-depth introduction to these flower powerhouses and all the companion plants that grow so well with them. You will be a Peony pro after this week’s class!
