Yavapai College invites you to share a compelling glimpse of the Arizona artists whose visions and craft may dominate the galleries of tomorrow. Join us for the 2024 Young Artist Showcase, opening Friday, Feb. 23 at the Prescott Campus Gallery.

Traditional, edgy, challenging and whimsical: the paintings, etchings, sculptures, mixed-media pieces and digital art creations featured in the Young Artist Showcase offer a broad range of talent and perspective. But these eighty pieces shared a single throughline of excellence.

“I was surprised by the number of 3D pieces submitted—historically, this show hasn’t seen as many.”  said Yavapai College Graphic Design Instructor Lindsay Masten. As juror for the exhibit, Masten had the difficult task of honing more than 220 submissions from Yavapai and Maricopa counties into a multi-disciplinary show. “I was also surprised by many of the artists’ boldness and bravery. I think, as a young artist, it’s much harder to expose your inner life. But so many submissions willingly explore complex, personal subjects.”

Nine Arizona high schools – Basis Scottsdale, Bradshaw Mountain, Chino Valley; Desert Mountain; Mayer; The Orme School; Pinnacle and Prescott High and Tri-City Prep – will be represented in the 80-piece exhibition capturing the very best of Arizona’s emerging artists.

The 2024 Young Artist Showcase opens Friday, February 23, at 10 a.m., at the Yavapai College Prescott Campus Art Gallery. An Opening Reception for the Showcase will be held Friday, March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., with Ms. Masten announcing the award-winning pieces at 6 p.m. The exhibition will run through Friday, March 29.

The Yavapai College Prescott Art Gallery is located in the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center at 1100 E. Sheldon Street, on the Yavapai College Prescott Campus. The Gallery is open 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is free. For exhibit schedules or more information, please call: (928) 776.2031 or visit: our website
