On February 5, 2024, at approximately 4:30 P.M. Prescott Police officers responded to an apartment in the 300 block of Country Club Circle in Prescott after receiving information that a suspect wanted on several felony charges as well as a Felony warrant was at this location.
Upon arrival, officers attempted to contact the occupants inside the apartment and initially did not receive a response. Shortly after, officers contacted the suspect as he attempted to leave the apartment. The suspect was given verbal commands, which he ignored as he went back inside the apartment.
The Prescott Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team was called to the scene to assist. Through the course of the investigation, several attempts to negotiate with the suspect proved unsuccessful as he continued to refuse to obey commands. After approximately one hour of providing announcements, a female resident at the apartment eventually complied and exited the apartment. Intelligence gathered confirmed that the suspect was still inside the apartment and knew police were present on scene.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment. After repeated attempts to persuade the suspect into surrendering, SWAT officers entered the apartment accompanied by a Prescott Valley Police K-9, who responded to the scene to assist. The suspect was encountered in an upstairs bedroom by officers and continued to refuse to follow commands. The K-9 was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect is identified as Taylor Hoffman, a 39-year-old Prescott resident. Hoffman received injuries to his lower leg during the course of being taken into custody. Hoffman was treated on scene and transported to YRMC for additional treatment. Charges pending on Hoffman include six counts of Aggravated Assault per Domestic Violence, Aggravated Assault of a Minor, Violation of a Court Order, Threatening and Intimidating, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Damage, Endangerment and Disorderly Conduct. Additionally, Hoffman had an active Felony warrant for a probation violation.
