Prescott Valley Community Made Dump the Drugs Event a Success – Prescott Valley Police Department

The Prescott Valley Police Department is grateful to those who participated in the Dump the Drugs Event that happened at Fry’s Pharmacy on Saturday, October 28th. Eighty people dropped off 122 pounds of unwanted or expired medications. There were also nearly 13 pounds of “sharps” turned in for destruction. Sharps are objects that penetrate a person’s skin, such as needles, syringes, scalpel blades, and razor blades. This event, in partnership with MATFORCE, is in association with the National Prescription Take-Back Campaign.

Residents do not need to wait for this bi-annual campaign to dispose of unwanted drugs. Citizens may bring unused and expired prescriptions or over-the-counter medications to the Prescott Valley Police Department any time Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm for disposal.

The program allows residents to keep unused and expired prescriptions or over-the-counter medications out of the wrong hands and out of community lakes, rivers, and groundwater.
