Construction to Begin on Old Black Canyon Highway Roadway Maintenance September 25

Prescott Valley Town Council on Thursday, September 14 approved the roadway maintenance project of a one-mile section of Old Black Canyon Highway between the StoneRidge and Raven Ridge subdivisions. The project is scheduled to begin on September 25, 2023, and last no more than 40 days.

During the Goodwin Fire of 2017 this project was identified by the Town to address an evacuation safety concern. The concern was the lack of an all-weather secondary emergency ingress/egress to both Stoneridge and Prescott Country Club/Raven Ridge residents.

The joint project with Yavapai County will place six inches of asphalt millings on the current dirt road surface, followed by a double chip seal. The project will also include new pavement markings, signage, and speed tables (designed to slow traffic).

Council awarded the bid for the project to Earth Resources Corporation in the amount of $523,407.00.
