The Prescott Valley Police Department has had several victims come forward in the past week who had fallen victim to the “Grandparent Scam,” but with a twist. With the emergence of AI technology, savvy scammers have the ability to create realistic sound bytes of possible loved ones. Victims receive a call from their “family member” asking urgently for money. Some scams have even had their “attorney” get on the phone. PVPD is asking people to think before sending any money. Try to contact the alleged family member to determine if they are in trouble.
