Prescott National Forest, Prescott Fire Department, and CAFMA Lift Fire Restrictions, Saturday August 19

In cooperation with local jurisdictions and the Prescott National Forest, Stage I fire restrictions will be lifted on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 06:00 a.m. The restrictions were put in place on June 29, 2023, in several forests, Prescott, and the Prescott Basin areas. In conjunction with the Prescott National Forest fire managers and other local agencies, it has been determined that sufficient rain within the region has increased the fuel moisture levels and subsequently, decreased the fire danger.

The public should please remain vigilant with the use of fire for land management and recreations. For more information and links for local burn permits, https://yavapaiburnpermits.com/. Please visit our websites at www.cazfire.org or  http://www.prescott-az.gov/services/fire/ for further information/

The region covers the 45 square miles of the City of Prescott and the 365 square miles of the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) which includes the Towns of Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Chino Valley, and Paulden.  CAFMA’s jurisdiction also applies to areas surrounding the City of Prescott such as Williamson Valley, upper Copper Basin Road, the Mountain Club area, Ponderosa Park off White Spar Road, and the Senator Highway area of Karen Drive, Sweet Acres, and Oak Knoll Village along with the areas of Government Canyon and Diamond Valley which are south of Prescott.
