The James Family Prescott YMCA Unveils $200K Fitness Center Upgrade

On Monday, August 7, the pursuit of health and wellness in the Quad City area took a step forward when new, state-of-the-art cardiovascular and strength training equipment was unveiled at the James Family Prescott YMCA. The new exercise equipment, valued at approximately $200,000, replaces and upgrades exercise equipment at end-of-cycle, while adding new items not previously available.

“We value our community members and participants, and we strive to offer programs that bring value to our members and guests,” said Damon Olsen, Chief Executive Officer for the YMCA of Yavapai County. “We understood that some of the equipment in our Fitness Center was approaching end of cycle, and we took advantage of the opportunity to replace and upgrade most of the equipment in our inventory.”

The new equipment complements the Y’s spacious interior, creating a modern, comfortable environment for members to pursue their fitness goals. New equipment has been added to the Center’s cardiovascular and weight rooms, and both exercise suites were scheduled for deep cleaning. Through enhanced space planning, more open space was also created to support free-style and functional training activities.

“Our goal was to modernize the workout experience for our members, while maintaining the unique character of our environment,” said Lesley Jenkins, Executive Director for the James Family Prescott YMCA. “Our Fitness Director Aimee Blackwood did an outstanding job leading this project from concept to installation. We are so proud to present this to our community.”

Since 1914, the James Family Prescott YMCA has strengthened the community through programs that emphasize youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Y relies on membership and program fees, along with public and private contributions to operate programs and fund expansion projects. As a membership organization, the Y is open to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. An extensive scholarship program ensures access to kids and families who could not otherwise benefit from YMCA programs.
