Paloma Village Breaks Ground in Chino Valley – Coalition for Compassion and Justice

On May 18th the stage was set and anticipation filled the air as the Coalition for Compassion and Justice team prepared for the groundbreaking of Paloma Village. However, Mother Nature had her own plans for our day.

As the dark clouds loomed overhead, the heavens unleashed their fury in the form of a torrential downpour and heavy winds. But did that dampen our spirits? Absolutely not! As the groundbreaking went on, the words of gratitude echoed through the air, acknowledging the incredible collaboration made by our community.

Paloma Village is more than just affordable housing, but a place of hope and healing for those we have the honor of serving. One of the best parts of the day was that we had so many supporters and community partners come out to share CCJ’s excitement. Some of those in attendance were members of the Prescott Valley City Council, the United Way, Catholic Charities, APS, Northland Cares, Humboldt Unified School District, Solari, A Safe Place and Agape House. Because of these amazing partnerships, we are tackling homelessness from all directions.

Next Steps

The well has just been dug and is producing over 80 gallons of water a minute! Liapple Construction is working hard on the rough grading to prepare for our utilities to be put in. We understand that our work has only just begun, and we are committed to keeping you informed about the progress of Paloma Village. Together, we will transform these 4 acres of open space into a thriving community where individuals, families and couples can find safe housing, support, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
