On May 30, 2023, at approximately 11:03 p.m., multiple crews from Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) and Truck 72 from Prescott Fire Department (PFD) responded to a reported vehicle fire at U-Pick-It, a salvage yard in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
While en route, crews reported seeing a large glow on the horizon in the direction of the incident location. First-arriving engines discovered a fully engulfed vehicle recycling machine with fire beginning to spread to a sizable debris pile.
Firefighters quickly contained the fire to the area of origin, stopping it from spreading into other areas of the facility. Crews remained on scene throughout the night working toward complete extinguishment. There were no injuries or damage to equipment.
CAFMA would like to thank Battalion 3, the crews of Engines 50, 53, 58, 59, Trucks 50 and 72, Utility 53, and the Prescott Valley Police Department for assistance with traffic control.
