Saturday was another beautiful day for horseshoe pitching at the Watson Lake courts for the MI Windows Open hosted by the Mile Hi Horseshoe Club.
Steve Harmon, of Surprise, took the tournament championship with a 4-1 mark despite dropping the final game of the day to Robert Chubinsky. In the battle for second, it was the battle of the Johns, John Barney versus John Lincoln. Barney bested Lincoln for second place.

Class B saw Cody Williams of Prescott lose his first and only game of the day to Joe Starika. Williams would run through the rest of his competition, pitching 6.5 over his average, to take the B championship. In his first sanctioned tournament, Sammy Lerma of Glendale, lost his first two games, but rallied to win his final three, finishing in second place finish. Mike Brewer of Prescott took third.
Next tournament at the Watson Lake courts will be June 3, followed by tournaments on June 10, and 24. Prescott Valley will host tournaments on May 20, May 27, and June 4. Those interested in horseshoe pitching should come out to watch a tournament and learn more about getting involved in the sport.
