The Northern Arizona Wranglers are back at home for the first time in nearly a month. The rematch tonight with the Bay Area Panthers will have major playoff implications for the Indoor Football League’s Western Conference.
This heavyweight battle between the Wranglers and the Panthers will determine the top team in the Western Conference standings for the time being. Both teams are coming in with 4-2 record.
These two teams met for the first time this season less than three weeks ago, and it was a very lopsided victory for the Panthers. The Wranglers are seeking revenge, and will be aiming for a victory that would put them at the top of the IFL Western Conference standings. In the weeks since their last meeting, both the Wranglers and Panthers have won their last two games. The Panthers are a very talented team led by quarterback Dalton Sneed on offense, and leaders from the Wranglers 2022 Championship run on defense.
The Wranglers defense has been playing at a very high level in recent outings, as they forced a season high five turnovers last week in Tucson. The Wranglers defense currently ranks number one in points per game allowed. Northern Arizona’s offense has some progressions to make, and will be putting an emphasis on protecting the football this week. The Wranglers will be playing a very tough opponent in the Panthers this week. As evidenced by the score of the last game between these two teams, the Panthers will take advantage of the opposing team’s mistakes. The Wranglers will need a complete performance in all phases of the game to become the top spot in the IFL’s Western Conference.
Both teams will be fired up to fight for a victory, and the coaches know each other all too well. This game should be intense and hard fought, so don’t be surprised to see a much closer score than the first time these two teams met in San Jose.
