Yavapai Firewise Announces Wildfire Expo

Yavapai Firewise asks you to join them at the Annual Wildfire Expo that will be held on April 22nd from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on the Cortez Street side of the Prescott Courthouse Square.  Join the Earth Day Celebration while learning valuable information on staying safe in case of a wildfire.

The whole family can see state of the art firefighting and emergency equipment.  Meet your local firefighters, emergency first responders and agencies that are committed to keeping you and your property safe.  Have your picture taken with Smokey the Bear!  This year the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Jeep Posse will have their Emergency Command Vehicle onsite as will the Red Cross be there with their Emergency Response Vehicle.

Is your community Firewise?  Members of Yavapai Firewise and representatives of Firewise sites will be there to answer questions and provide valuable information.  Also, speak with the Master Gardeners from the U of A Cooperative Extension for advice on fire resistant plants for your landscaping.  Take the important steps to assure that your home, family, and pets are prepared and protected to the maximum extent possible.

Yavapai Firewise is comprised of federal, state, county and city agency representatives working together with volunteers, businesses, and community leaders. Yavapai Firewise’s purpose is to mitigate the threat of wildfire, help communities gain and maintain Firewise certification, and to promote forest health in Yavapai County.  Learn more about Yavapai Firewise at  www.yavapaifirewise.org or call us at 928-277-8032.
