The Town is currently accepting applications for volunteers to serve on the Planning and Zoning Advisory Commission (P&Z Commission). The terms of two of the current Commissioners have expired and the Town is looking to fill those positions. The Commissioners whose terms have expired can serve consecutive terms and can apply for re-appointment if they so desire. The Commissioners will remain on the Commission until the vacancy has been filled.
The P&Z Commission is comprised of nine members, all of whom must be residents of the town. Each member will be appointed to a four-year term. The P&Z Commission may set its own meeting schedule, but meetings will be held at least quarterly, or at the request of the Mayor, a Councilmember, or an applicant. Currently, meetings are held on the first Thursday, after the first Tuesday of the month, @ 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. See Town Code § 31.21.
This is an advisory Commission that provides recommendations to the Town Council. The P&Z Commission may adopt its own rules of procedure, but the rules must include Robert’s Rules of Order. The P&Z Commission has the duty to diligently perform all the duties allocated to the P&Z Commission by Arizona law or town ordinance.
Individuals that would like to be considered for appointment, need to complete the Town Council, Commission, Boards and Committee Vacancy Application Form Microsoft Word – Volunteer app for CC and B vacancies.doc (dhaz.gov).
The deadline to submit applications is Friday, May 5th at 5:00 p.m. Applicants will be considered for appointment by the Council at the May 16th Regular Town Council meeting.
If you have any questions, please contact the Town at 928-632-7362.
