The City of Prescott is bracing for a winter storm that is anticipated to impact our area for the next several days. City offices, including Prescott Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, February 22 until at least 12 Noon, with the possibility of full closure for the day on Wednesday, February 22. Solid Waste collection will be completed if road conditions are suitable for our vehicles. Collection service will be evaluated daily throughout this storm and may be delayed or suspended depending upon the road conditions. Please continue to monitor city communications for updated information.
The following City public meetings are cancelled:
- Prescott Citizens Academy on Tuesday, February 21.
- The General Plan Review Committee meeting on Wednesday, February 22.
- The Council Subcommittee on Appointments meeting on Wednesday, February 22.
- Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday February 23.
Overall, weather conditions for this week will make travel very hazardous, if not impossible at times. We ask that you please limit driving to as needed only. Please have at least 3 days, if not more, supply of food and water. Batteries for alternative lighting, and an alternate heating source, such as firewood, or indoor approved non-electric type heater. Be sure to have all critical medications to last at least one week on hand, and postpone any noncritical doctors, or other appointments until we are clear of these weather systems.
Street Maintenance has equipment and staff on duty and ready to begin working these storm events and will continue to do so until all City streets are clear, passable and safe. Please keep in mind that with on again and off again snow fall we will likely have to continue moving back and forth between main arterial and collector streets and local residential streets. Also, we ask that if you have off street parking, please use it. Side street parking, particularly on the local residential streets makes it very difficult for the plows to maneuver around and could result in damage to your vehicle and/or the snowplow. Also please do not attempt to pass a snowplow while it is actively plowing and/or applying cinders and always try to stay at least 100 feet behind it.
