The James Family Prescott YMCA’s 37th Annual Youth Basketball League season is almost here. The League, which is sponsored by Foothills Bank, will tip off January 7th and run through March 8th.
According to Sports Director Jaime DeJoseph, the YMCA Youth Basketball League has two divisions: “B”, which is a recreational league for girls and boys, ages 4-13, and runs in Prescott and Prescott Valley. “A”, is a competitive league for youth, ages 9-17 and that league runs in Prescott only. “The primary objective of the YMCA is to develop people, not professional athletes,” DeJoseph said. “Our volunteer coaches are dedicated to developing youth and will emphasize the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.”
DeJoseph also stressed that the league is not possible without volunteers. “We need YOU!! We cannot host this league without our volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, team parents and referees,” she said. “Volunteering is more than just sharing your time and talent, it’s about the satisfaction of knowing you are helping people become stronger, giving back to your community, and gaining valuable work experience that will enhance your career opportunities,” DeJoseph continued.
The James Family Prescott YMCA would like to acknowledge and thank our Signature Sponsor Foothills Bank, our individual team sponsors, the Prescott Unified School District (PUSD), the Humboldt Unified School District (HUSD), the City of Prescott, Blind Dog Apparel and A Portrait Park by J. Also our invaluable volunteer coaches and referees and the parents. Because of them, the YMCA is able to make a difference in the lives of our youth in our community.
