The local chapter of Yavapai County’s Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic (ConCR) has announced that Ron Watkins, Republican candidate for Congressional District 2, will speak at their monthly meeting, Saturday, May 21st, in Chino Valley. Also speaking is State Representative Mark Finchem (R – Oro Valley), who President Trump has endorsed for Arizona Secretary of State. The meeting is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP.
Ron Watkins is making his first run for elective office, running in a crowded Republican field in the August primary to challenge Democrat Tom O’Halleran in Arizona’s newly drawn Congressional District 2. He describes himself as the son of a military family with roots in Arizona who lived abroad much of his early life, particularly China and the Philippines. After university training as a linguist and computer scientist, he worked internationally. Since settling in Arizona, he has become politically active, focusing on issues related to election integrity and the methods and technologies used to undermine Arizona elections.
Rep Mark Finchem is a law enforcement officer from Michigan who retired to Arizona and was elected to the Arizona Legislature in 2015 and is now completing his 4th term. He is a graduate of the Grand Canyon University and holds a Masters degree in law and economics from the University of Arizona. Rep Finchem gained national prominence as one of the first elected officials in Arizona to question the result of the 2020 election. Together with Congressmen Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs, Rep. Finchem has been a staunch defender of President Trump and the claim that the 2020 election was “stolen”. His candidacy for Arizona Secretary of State has been endorsed by the former President.
The Yavapai County Chapter of Conservatives for a Constitutional Republic is a group of conservative activists dedicated to defending and promoting the values of representative government as set forth in the United States Constitution. They are a private organization and not directly affiliated with a political party. However, most members are registered Republicans or conservative leaning Independents who are civically engaged or are current or former elected officials or candidates for office.
During this election year, President Dutton has scheduled candidates for all top level state and national officers to address the group.
ConCR meets monthly at the Bible Baptist Church, 3490 N. State Road 89, in Chino Valley. Recent speakers include Arizona GOP Chair Kelli Ward, Congressman Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs, State Senator Wendy Rogers, and many other prominent conservative figures and candidates for office.
ConCR is a membership organization. However, in the interest of informing voters about important issues and candidates, the appearances of guest speakers of high public interest are open to the public. All those wishing to meet the candidates and learn about their positions on the issues of interest to conservative voters are cordially invited to attend. Time has been reserved for a brief Q & A following candidate presentations. Doors open at 11:00 AM. The meeting will begin promptly at 11:15 AM. RSVP’s are requested and should be addressed to concr2018@gmail.com.
