Vehicle Rollover Closes Portion of S.R. 89 in Chino Valley

On 04/13/2022, at approximately 11:39 am, Chino Valley Officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover on S.R. 89 at the Kalinich Lane roundabout.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a tractor-trailer overturned in the southbound #2 lane of S.R. 89, in the roundabout at Kalinich Lane. The tractor-trailer was transporting dry concrete mix at the time of the incident. The driver, a 56-year-old male out of Sun City, Arizona, was the sole occupant in the vehicle. After the rollover, the driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle and was assessed for injuries on scene by paramedics. He complained of pain in his neck and back, but had no visible injuries. He was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Although the cause of the rollover crash is still currently under investigation, it appears that speed was a contributing factor. As a result of the incident, southbound S.R. 89 was closed at Outerloop Road until Tri-City Towing could get the tractor-trailer upright and towed from the scene. The roadway was cleared of debris and re-opened at approximately 1:41 pm.

The Chino Valley Police Department would like to thank motorist for their understanding and patience while the roadway was closed and detours were provided. We also want to thank our partnering agencies for their assistance, including the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, LifeLine, the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, and Tri-City Towing
