2nd Annual AmeriCorps Week Toiletry Drive for Local Homeless Veterans and Shelters

During the entire month of March, Arizona Serve, an AmeriCorps program of Prescott College, is seeking community support for their 2nd Annual AmeriCorps Week Toiletry Drive benefitting the local homeless in the Tri-City area. All donations can be dropped off at the Arizona Serve offices at 308 Grove Avenue, in Prescott.

“We were blown away during last year’s Toiletry Drive when we collected over $5,000 worth of, much needed, supplies for local homeless veterans and shelters in the area,” said Mona Stephens, AmeriCorps Program & Marketing Manager. “The need for these donations has increased and we are urging the community to come together, again, to make this year’s Drive even more successful in order to double the impact!”

All collected items will be divided – based on need – and donated to US Vets, Prescott Area Shelter Services, Stepping Stones, and Catholic Charities during the first week of February. These organizations have expressed a need for the following items in particular: paper products, cleaning products, diapers, feminine products, socks, deodorant, underwear, hand warmers, hand sanitizer, shampoo, body soap, toilet paper, oral hygiene products, laundry detergent, and wet wipes. However, all toiletry-based donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.

“Last year we had an abundance of toothbrushes. This year, many of the shelters expressed that they are not in need of those products. “Stated Sean Stevens, VISTA Team Leader at Arizona Serve.

Arizona Serve is looking forward to working with the community again to impact its most vulnerable populations and be of service. If you have any questions regarding the AmeriCorps Week Toiletry Drive or would like more information on how to get involved with other AmeriCorps Week volunteer projects through Arizona Serve please contact Sean Stevens at stevens@arizonaserve.org or (520) 276-1802
