It’s now mid January and the New Year is just getting started. I love the beginning of a New Year because it relates to new beginnings. It’s an opportunity to reflect on your life and set intentions for your upcoming year. This is the perfect time to focus on what your ideal life looks like. You may realize you are closer than you think. A good place to start to get some clarity and focus on the things that you need to change, or improve is to use the wheel of life.
The wheel of life is nothing new. It is a classic tool to get you thinking about your life. It is a wheel with different areas of life listed on the outside of the wheel. The aspects listed on this wheel are business, finance, personal growth, health, family & friends, relationships, fun and recreation, and physical environment. From the center of wheel there are numbers listed from 1 to 10. You will begin by taking a pen and putting a dot on the scale of where that particular area rates in your life today. Be as subjective and accurate as you can. You will then draw a line connecting the dots, and see a completely different-shaped wheel.
Now take a different color pen and place a dot where you want to be in your life, and then connect those dots. While doing this exercise think deeply of how happy you are with things, and what you enjoy doing. This will give you an idea of what’s important for you to focus on to set the goals you want to achieve this year.
Now you can be more clear about your New Years resolutions. By the way, my friend and colleague Karen Hand says “a New Year’s resolution is often a way to jump start an intention and to re-solve an old issue.” In a recent blog she suggests to think of it this way:
I re-solve to lose weight in the new year.
I re-solve having a dry January.
I re-solve improving my business.
I re-solve to be kinder to everyone.
I re-solve to let go of the need for perfection.
When we look at these different areas of our life that aren’t working for us we can ask some questions like:
How did the extra weight get there?
What will a dry January look like?
How did you get your new clients last year?
What stops you from being kinder now?
What happens when you are not perfect?
Anything you do different will yield different results. By knowing some of those specifics about the issues and asking the right questions a qualified hypnotherapist can help you reach a re-solution or new solution in your life.
We all have areas of our lives we would like to improve on so we can be the best that we can be and live a miraculous life. By using self hypnosis and creating a shift in thought we can begin the change.
Until next time be sure and have a beautiful day. You deserve it!
