Finding and Making the Good made their reappearance recently with the recognition of Abby Brill. Many of you may know Abby’s work as a gifted ceramicist, her lovely and useful ceramic pieces grace many homes around the Prescott area, and El Gato Azul uses her hand-crafted water pitchers to serve their guests. As a member of Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery, Abby regularly donates ceramics to fundraisers for nonprofits, such as Empty Bowls, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity.

But her creativity and way with clay is not all Abby contributes to our community. Nominated by her friend Christine Mack, Abby is a nurturing soul, who regularly cooks meals for the Coalition for Compassion and Justice (CCJ) and their “Stagger Straight” homeless guests. “Abby’s home is a cozy gathering place for anyone who needs a great bowl of soup,” Mack commented, “she always makes herself available to help friends and neighbors in need.”

In addition to her nutritious and delicious cooking, Abby serves as a notary at many local events where one might be needed and is Associate Editor for the local 5enses monthly publication. She chairs the Prescott 4th Friday artwalk, and takes her shifts at the Arts Prescott Cooperative Gallery on Whiskey Row where her work is displayed and sold. It was there that Finding and Making the Good caught up with her (ambushed her, really) to recognize her contributions.

Abby was honored for finding and making the good within the community with flowers from Allan’s Flowers and a donation from Finding and Making the Good, as well as two tickets contributed by Arizona Philharmonic to their Sonoran Winds concert. As a singer with Women’s Song, a local choral group that donates their performances at local events, Abby enjoyed the gift of music.

Share the Good
Finding & Making the Good continues to reach out to the community for nominees and encourages everyone to share their stories of people “making the good” at their website. Each month individuals are selected to be recognized.
