#1 Ranked Badgers Win Regular Season Finale, Host First Round Playoff Match: PHS Sports Roundup

The Badgers completed their perfect regular season with an 8-1 win over the Desert Edge Scorpions. It also makes Prescott back to back Division II Northwest Region champions. The top seeded Badgers will now host #16 Millennium in the first round of the playoffs, on Monday at 6 pm.

Prescott coach Bobbi Yoder said, “For Teacher Appreciation Night, our Seniors and the Varsity team choose to honor/recognize Jen Hawley (Tabitha Bryner), Diane Ryan (Nicole Raiss) and Trent James (Varsity Team) for their impact on them in the classroom and beyond. Our two Seniors, Tabitha Bryner and Nicole Raiss, were also celebrated tonight by their teammates, families and friends for their accomplishments as well as all of the blood, sweat and tears poured into this Badminton program over the years. These two young ladies are amazing and it has been an honor and privilege to coach them over the years and they will be dearly missed by all next year.”

The Division II Individual State Tournament will be this Friday and Saturday at Independence High School. Megan Townsend will be competing in Singles play, and Nicole Raiss and Riley Crockett will be going in doubles, as well as 1 more Singles/Doubles team yet to be decided.

Volleyball
The Badgers swept the Mingus Marauders 3-0 on Senior Night in the Badger Dome. After recognizing the four seniors, Kari Kasun, Ella Bleu Edwards, Lexi Wasil, and Millie Diener, it was time to get down to business.

In Game 1, the Badgers fell behind, exchanging blows till the Prescott put a string of points together, after breaking a 10-10 deadlock. The home team outscored their visiting counterparts from Cottonwood 15-5 to take the first one.

Games two and three saw the Badgers in control from the beginning, never being threatened, winning by 15 and 12 respectively.

Prescott (5-6) in the Grand Canyon Region, and (8-8) overall, will close out the regular season tonight at Flagstaff. Start time is 6 pm.

Football

The Badgers have moved up in the Division 4 football rankings after their 34-28 overtime win over #3 at the time, Coconino. Prescott now sits at #4, and at #15 in the Open Division poll. The Open Division includes all classes from 2A to 6A. Number one Cactus sits at #4 in the Open Division.

The Mesquite Wildcats come to town on Friday in a battle of top ten teams. Kickoff is at 7pm.
