College of Engineering Speaker Series: Dr. Richard Holdaway – Wednesday, Feb. 24, 4:00 p.m.
In 2015 a spin-out company was formed from the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University in the UK, with the novel concept of taking some technology from the global Square Kilometer Array program and flying it on highly stable stratospheric platforms. The primary purpose is to provide mobile communications without the need for terrestrial towers, and giving the end-user (i.e., the public) seamless global coverage. This talk will outline the rationale and background to the program, progress and schedule.
