Summary: Fire Managers continue to use aviation resources to observe the fire activity and spread direction. The Pine Fire was able to back down into Sycamore creek yesterday at low to moderate intensities and did receive precipitation over the fire area. Ground resources will evaluate identified values at risk. Fire managers were able to develop a plan to protect the established values at risk consisting of range improvements, recreation sites, protected species, archaeological and historical heritage sites near the fire area.
Due to the fire’s remote location and very few values at risk, along with predicted moisture, fire managers are engaging the fire with a monitor strategy to limit the exposure to ground and aerial firefighting resources. The remote location would present challenges to extract an injured firefighter if an incident occurred.
