4-3 Loss Against Missouri
Prescott Valley, AZ – It was an intense 3rd period and an even more exhilarating overtime and subsequent shootout. The Sundogs ultimately loss 4-3 and were forced into a 6-man shootout.
Missouri pulled their goalie with 3:32 left in the 1st in an attempt to gain the man advantage but at the end of the 1st period both teams came up empty without a goal.
0:44 seconds into the 2nd period and the Sundogs' Chad Nehring got the puck rolling when he made the first goal of the evening with assists by Chipchura and Larocque. Minutes Nehring scored his 2nd goal of the night and his third of the season. The Mavericks followed Arizona's two goals with a pair of goals of their own when Kellan Tochkin and Trevor Kell both scored.
By the 3rd period the arena was filled with excitement as Missouri's Brian Bicek scored with 2:12 left putting the Sundogs in a tough spot. The arena was on their feet as Jeff Kyrzakos narrowly got one through the Mavericks goaltender Clemente tying up the game 3-3. They were forced into a 6-man shootout when they couldn't break the tie in overtime. John Scott-Dickson made the only shootout goal for either team.
The Sundogs had 37 Shots on Goal tonight and the Mavericks had 38. Adam Russo looked great in net tonight stopping 31 shots on goal in regulation and another 5 in the shootout. The Sundogs wrapped up their 2-game series tonight and are 1-1-2.
