GLENDALE, Ariz. – Phoenix Coyotes Vice President of Hockey Operations and Assistant General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the Coyotes have signed a one-year affiliation agreement with the Arizona Sundogs who will serve as the Coyotes Central Hockey League affiliate.
“We are pleased to formalize this relationship with the Arizona Sundogs as we collectively continue to grow hockey in the state of Arizona,” Treliving said. “We look forward to a strong partnership this season.”
The Sundogs play their home games at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona, and celebrated their fifth anniversary last season. Arizona is one of 14 teams that compete in the CHL and the Sundogs will host the 2012 CHL All-Star Game.
“When we’ve worked as an affiliate with the Coyotes it’s always been positive for both organizations,” Sundogs head coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marco Pietroniro said. “David Schlemko is a great example of why an affiliation between the Coyotes and the Sundogs is exciting. We were proud to have him here and we’re pleased to assist the Coyotes even further in the future.”
Pietroniro enters his sixth season as head coach for the Sundogs. He led Arizona to a 39-19-6 regular season record in 2007-08 as well as the CHL Ray Miron President's Cup.
The Sundogs open the 2011-12 season on Friday, October 21st at home against the Laredo Bucks.
