Eagles Men's Soccer Three-Game Winning Streak Snapped Against Marymount California University Mariners

PRESCOTT- The #18 ranked Marymount California University Mariners scored two goals in each half as the Embry Riddle Eagles men’s soccer team fell 4-0 and had their three-game winning streak broken at home, Sunday, October 1st.

“We started playing good but by the end, we started messing up small passes, short passes, basic stuff,” Eagles senior midfielder Lucas Vasconcelos said. “I feel like our team is doing good now….we’re going to bounce back for sure.”

Enrique Amador started the scoring for the Mariners at 16:48 in the first half with David Padovan adding another score five minutes later. Two additional quick strikes in the second half would bury the Eagles as Nedin Zukanovic sent one through 63 minutes in and Josep Morego increased the advantage to four with a score 65 minutes in.

“Obviously we knew it was going to be difficult today, it was going to be one where we had to play really well to win and we didn’t,” Eagles men’s’ soccer head coach Dan Balaguero said. “Marymount is a quality side and we need to learn from it and move on.”

In the victory, the Mariners out-shot the Eagles 13-9.

The Embry Riddle Eagles (5-5 3-1 CALPAC) return the road Thursday, October 5th, at 3:00 pm against the University of California-Merced.
