Penny Nicholas Races to Finish at the CV Triathlon

06 June 2011

Longtime Kindergarten teacher Penny Nicholas participates in the Chino Valley triathlon.

It was a good day for Penny Nicholas, a Kindergarten teacher at Washington School for 43 years.

On Saturday, Nicholas entered the Town of Chino Valley Adult & Youth & Relay Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon event, organized by Tri-Family Racing. She participated in the Mini Triathlon division for women aged 65-69.

That means she swam 150 yards, biked 7 miles and ran for a mile. It took Nicholas 1:21:24 to complete the course.

Admitting that she found such events to be enormous fun, Nicholas said she thought that everyone should participate.

"You don't have to be young, skinny or fast. You just have to finish," Nicholas stated with a wide smile.
