Badgers Basketball Teams Battle Rival Bradshaw Mountain to Open Season

The Prescott Badgers will make the short trip to Prescott Valley to face the Bears .

Coach Travis Stedman said, “It will great to finally play a game after ten weeks of practice. The boys have been through a roller coaster of ups and downs with the season on then off and now on again.”

Stedman, in his third year as varsity coach said that the Badgers will have some key components coming back this year and is looking for some really good things out of his team. “We have Milap Owens and Jason Parent, who had solid seasons last year and just continue to improve.” Owens, a senior, and Parent, a junior, will have some help with senior Tucker Koning, and junior Scooter Schwartz. Benjamin Black,  who missed most of his junior season last year with an injury, is expected to add to the team’s success.

Jacob Brown and Jonas Carmen also saw some minutes last season and will be looked upon to provide a boost to the Prescott attack.

The Prescott Lady Badgers will be hosting the rival Lady Bears in the Badger Dome. Coach Bobbi Yoder is in her sixth season as the Lady Badgers head coach, and had this to say about her 20-21 team.  “The girls are excited to play after a lot of practicing. We are a young team with a lot of our squad coming up from the junior varsity level.” One player that the Lady Badgers will surely count on is senior Hollie Dalton. “We will be looking for Hollie to be the team leader and she brings so much to our game.”

Yoder said that she and her staff have been using this time to teach her players about some of what might seem to be the simple things. “Attitude and gratitude are a big part of what we are trying to accomplish out here. Just the fact that we are finally at this point, says a lot of how we have done the right things to insure the safety of everyone involved.”

No fans will be allowed, but you may watch the game on YouTube at the Badger Media page.
