Badgers Fall At Home To Deer Valley 75-61

The Prescott Badgers home opener looked like it was going to be a close contest, but a 17-3 Deer Valley run in the final three and a half minutes of the second quarter was something the Badgers could not recover from in a 75-61 loss.

The game was back and forth with the Badgers holding a lead of as many as four in the opening quarter.

Prescott led 26-24 with 3:35 left in the first half, when Deer Valley went on a 17-3 to close out the quarter, going to the locker room with a 41-29 lead.

The Badgers had their chances in the second half, but could not cut the deficit to under double digits.

Jason Parent led all scorers with 27 points. Milap Owens scored 19 and Korey Schwartz had 12.

Coach Travis Stedman said, “We played a good first quarter and a half, but we started making turnovers, and let them dictate the tempo. I thought we played pretty evenly in the second half, but was unable to get back into the game.”

Prescott (0-2), will host Flagstaff in the Grand Canyon Region opener on Tuesday at 7pm.
