Dalton and Reily lead Lady Badgers in season opener

Hollie Dalton and Kira Riley combined for 34 points, but it was not enough to hold off the Estrella Foothills Wolves in a season opening 55-39 setback in the Badger Dome last night. It was a slow start for both squads as the low score indicated. Hollie Dalton's three pointer got Prescott on the board at the 3:30 mark in the first quarter to cut the Wolves lead to 6-3. Dalton added one more bucket, as the Lady Badgers trailed 8-5 at the end of one.

The Wolves behind Tianna Redder opened up a 23-13 lead at the half. The two Prescott juniors, Dalton, who led with 9, and Kira Reily, had 4 at the break.

A strong third quarter by Estrella Foothills broke the game wide open, building a 41-22 lead after three quarters.

Prescott played their best quarter in the final eight minutes, playing the Wolves evenly.

Hollie Dalton and Kira Reily led all scorers with 17 each, while Tianna Reeder led Estrella Foothills with 15. Dalton also had 5 assists.

Coach Bobbi Yoder said, "We knew this was going to be a tough matchup tonight. We turned the ball over a little to much and gave up to many second chance opportunities to them. Overall, it was a good effort but still lots to work on and fix, so we will get back to work tomorrow and prepare for the tournament this weekend at Desert Edge."

Prescott (0-1) will play their first game at the Desert Edge Tournament on Friday at 10:30am. The Lady Badgers will return home on Tuesday, December 3 to face Arcadia. Tip time set for 5:30pm.
