PHS Sports Roundup

It took less than 90 minutes for the Prescott Badgers girls tennis team to advance to the quarterfinal round of the AIA Divison II State Tennis playoffs. The #3 seeded Badgers beat the #14 seeded Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks 5-0.

Prescott's number one player, Ava Andrews won her set over Lauren Anthony of Ironwood Ridge, and had this to say about her effort. "I thought I played really well, but could have played a little better. I felt I could have been a little stronger, but I will take the win. We have a really good team and I am looking forward to our match next week."

The match was shortened in the best of nine because the Badgers won the first five completed sets. Coach Sterling Fetty said, "The girls came out and did what they had to do today. It was a good effort and we can look forward to next week." In regards to next week, "We have not seen Thunderbird this year. I know that they are a very good program, and we will have to play our best to beat them."

The Badgers (14-1) will host the Thunderbird Chiefs, also (14-1), at 3pm next Tuesday, at Prescott High School.
