The Prescott Badgers season came to an end with a 6-1 loss at Flagstaff yesterday afternoon. Prescott ended the season winless in Grand Canyon Region play and an overall record of (5-18). Senior Fran Larson ended her softball career with a home run, the only run of the game for the Badgers. The win gets Flagstaff Eagles a .500 season all around, at (13-13) overall and (6-6) in region play.
Makenna Snodgrass threw a complete game for Flagstaff allowing just the Larson home run on four other hits, sriking out seven and issuing one walk. Hannah Irvine started for the Badgers, allowing two earned runs in the fourth inning. Makayla Reyes pitched the final two innings, giving up four runs.
Offensively, Larson had a single to go with the home run. Leigha Walker had a pair of singles, and Codi Hasvold had a single. The Eagles had six different players get hits, all singles.
Varsity Girls Tennis
The #3 Prescott Badgers (13-1) are in position to host the first two rounds of the playoffs, but first must get by an opening round match with the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks.
The Nighthawks finished in third place in the Division II, Section VII standings behind Salpointe Catholic, and first place Catalina Foothills. The Badgers finished in second place behind #1 Notre Dame Prep. Prescott was (5-1) against the playoff field, with the only loss a 6-3 setback to Notre Dame Prep in Prescott on March 19.
