State scoring leader Robert Burries Jr. scores 52 in Globe win

There was plenty of high school hoops action in Prescott and Prescott Valley on Friday. Highlights included Globe's Robert Burries Jr. who dropped in a cool 52 points and Rancho Solano Prep winning  a triple overtime thriller 80-77 over Trivium Prep. Pima, the #11 seed, upset #6 St. Augustine 61-40. There was a mild upset at Precott High School, as #10 Arizona Lutheran beat #7 Parker 67-57, after the Broncs had comeback to take a two point lead with just over three minutes to play.

The Globe Tigers beat the San Manuel Miners for the third time this season with a 89-75 win in 2A action, at Yavapai College. The Tigers got 17 points from Daniel Widner, 11 from Brandon Pina, to go along with the 52 points from Robert Burries Jr.

The Alchesay Falcons had four players in double figures in their 81-40 win over Miami. Kellen Parrish led the Falcons with 18, Tyreck Cosay 16, Elisha Walker 13, and Malachai Harris ended with 12.

In 2A girls, #15 Globe had upset on their minds, but #2 Chandler Prep pulled it together doewn the stretch to beat the Tigers 48-40 at Yavapai College.

1A boys action saw #8 Mogollon having to fight off #9 Patagonia, before pulling away in the final two minutes in a 53-45 win. In division 1A girls, #11 Red Mesa pulled off an upset, 50-47 in overtime, over #6 Ray. San #13 Pasqual gave #4 Fort Thomas girls all they could handle, before falling 54-51.

The top seed in 1A boys, the Rock Point Cougars, beat the Bagdad Sultans 70-43. Adrian Johnson led Cougars with 20 points, Isaac Salabiye 16, and Johnston Begay 10. Number Two, The Gregory School moved on with a 65-46 win over the Salome Frogs. The Hawks had four players in double figures, led by Tomari Harris with 22. Three other players, Anderson Mort, Demari Harris, and Brightstar Benson, each tossed in 13.

The tournament resumes today with games at Yavapai College and at the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.
