Senior Night goodbyes to Crockett, DeYoung, and Porter

The Lee Williams Volunteers had no interest in spreading the good cheer to the three Lady Badger seniors, who were playing their final game in the Badger Dome last night. Kendall Crockett, Remington DeYoung, and Ebony Porter all saw action on Tuesday night, but the visiting Lee Williams Volunteers beat the Prescott Lady Badgers 34-28.

Prescott opened up a four point lead after the first quarter on baskets by Kira Reily and a three pointer by Hoillie Dalton. The lead increased to 9-3 just a minute into the second, but Lee Williams battled back to tie the game at 11 with 1:34 left in the first half.
The Lady Volunteers took a two point lead, but Prescott found away to regain the lead. Kira Reily completed the old fashion three point play to give the Lady Badgers a 14-13 lead at the half.

Lee Williams took advantage of a sloppy third quarter to take a seven point lead heading into the final quarter.

Hollie Dalton's basket cut the deficit to 28-24 with just under six minutes to play. Down 30-26 with 3:19 left, Eve Hawker found herself inside for a wide open short range shot that went straight through the net, and suddenly it was 30-28. Unfortunately, those would be the final points for the home team.

The Volunteers went into clock killing mode, but Prescott would have their chances. Three ocassions down the court the ball failed to go through the basket.  A big hurt for the home team was their poor free throw shooting. Turned out to be a very costly night at the charity stripe, as the Lady Badgers only converted 26%, (5-19).

Lee Williams got possession of the ball start to burn off the final minute. Prescott fouled with :35 remaining trailing 31-28. Hayle Davis made the first but the second one was missed, and chased down by the Volunteers. The Lady Badgers were forced to foul again with :17 left. Two more free throws by Lee Williams closed out the scoring and the game.

Prescott (4-5) and (9-14) will face rival Bradshaw Mountain on Saturday at noon, at the Prescott Valley Events Center.
