Ryan Doyle scored the first and the last Prescott goals in a 4-2 win over the Coconino Panthers at Prescott High School last night. Coconino was in a good position to pull off an upset of the Badgers, but Prescott scored three goals in the final seven minutes to avoid losing to the last place team in the region.
The Panthers took a 1-0 midway through the opening half, but the Badgers tied the game on Ryan Doyle's first of his two goals, with 8:35 left in the opening half. The first half ended at a 1-1 tie.
Coconino took a 2-1 lead before the Badgers tied the game on a goal by Claudio Orozco with just 6:58 remaining. Prescott would get the go ahead goal at the 3:50 mark by Fernando Rodriquez. Ryan Doyle added some insurance with 1:14 left to seal the deal.
The Badgers, ranked #2 in 4A Boys Soccer, remain on top of the Grand Canyon Region at (3-0-0), and (8-2-1) overall, while Coconino is (0-3-0) and (2-10-1). Prescott will travel to face Lee Williams tomorrow at 4pm.
