The Prescott Badgers completely dominated their soccer game versus the Greenway Demons. The result was a 12-0 win. The Badgers jumped on top 7-0 in the first half, led by Emma Alvarez with three goals in the first half alone. The Badgers remain unbeaten while Greenway drops to (0-2).
"The team played real inspired today, after learning we lost another defender to a season ending knee injury," said Badgers coach Paul Campuzano. Once again the Badger girls protecting the goals did a great job. Rebekah Norris and Emily Hobson kept the Greenway goose egg on the board the entire 80 minutes.
Eight Prescott players scored in the contest. Lily Jensen scored 2 goals and had 3 assists. Sawyer Magnett and Emma Townsend also scord two goals. There were four other Badgers who got the ball into the net. Kaitlyn Kasun, Erika Smith, Kari Kasun, and Lauryn Mayhan all scored in the game. The fact that the score began to grow, meant that the Badger coach could get more playing time for his nonstarters. "All the freshmen and new players were able to play the majority of the game and are starting to understand one another," said Campuzano. He added, "It is an honor to be a part of this team and hopefully we can continue to grow with three very difficult games ahead of us."
Prescott (5-0) returns to the valley today. Mesa to be exact. They will play in the Chandler Prep Girls Soccer Invite at the Red Mountain Soccer Complex. Their stamina will be tested with two games today. The first game will be against Northwest Christian (3-1) at 3:30pm, followed by a 6:30pm game versus Verrado (2-3).
