Things seem same as ususal for the Prescott Badgers girls soccer team as they blanked the Saguaro Sabercats 5-0 last night at Prescott High School. After blanking Lee Williams 7-0, the Badgers have poutscored their opponents 12-0. Coach Paul Campuzano has the team playing well again right from the start.
Sawyer Magnat scored the first two goals of the game to put the Badgers up 2-0 at the half. Prescott added three more goals in the second half to secure the win.
Lily Jenson's goal made it 3-0, followed by goals from Ellie Magnat and Emma Alvarez.
Coach Paul Campuzano said, "We started real slow but were able to pick it up late in the first half and score two goals. I am pleased with the new and young players that have joined this team."
The best Saguaro could manage was six shots on goal by Annabella Bara, but with no success against Prescott goalkeeper Rebekah Norris.
Campuzano added, "The defense is still a bit of a question mark with injuries, but so far they have come together and are playing very well."
Prescott (2-0) makes their first road trip of the season to the San Tan Valley, and will face Poston Butte, Thursday at 6pm. Saguaro drops to (1-2).
