Clark runs for 3TDs. Greene picks up 2TDs on blocked punts

It has been a strange week for the Prescott Badgers. They took a five hour bus ride to Tucson, and because of bad weather, did not play. Then their head coach, Michael Gilpin, is placed on leave pending further investigation into a matter that happened after practice on Wednesday. So fast forward to the Badgers first game in two weeks, where they put on a team performance in a 43-0 win over the Moon Valley Rockets.

Prescott got on the board twice in the opening quarter thanks to special team plays. Aaron Greene blocked back to back punts by Moon Valley in the first four minutes of the game.

Leading 13-0, the Badgers offense got to work. A six yard run by Prescott quarterback Austin Clark put Prescott up 20-0. Clark duplicated his earlier play on another six yard run, to increase the lead to 27-0 heading into halftime.

Prescott took the third quarter kickoff and burned up nearly half of the quarter, but had to settle for a Bryce Peters 26 yard field goal.

Austin Clark rushed for his third touchdown with 11:52 left in the game, scampering for 25 yards. Peters added another PAT to make it 37-0. Clark finished with a 134 yards rushing to go along with his three touchdowns.

After the Rockets turned the ball over on downs, Ian Porter bolted 20 yards to extend the Badger lead to 43-0, with 8:53 remaining.

The Badger defense kept the Moon Valley offense off all night, recording four sacks, and numerous plays for loss.

Interim head coach Cody Collett said, “We were mixing the ball around very well tonight, and I am proud of the way our team played under tough circumstances.” Coach Gilpin will remain on leave pending the conclusion of the investigation, which involves a player and assistant coach. The assistant coach has resigned.

Prescott (1-1) will host Deer Valley (0-2), next Friday at 7pm.
