Softball Season Comes To An End At Coconino 14-4

The Prescott Badgers 2018 softball season came to an end in Flagstaff yesterday, as the Coconino Panthers beat the Badgers 14-4, in six innings. It was the third time this season that Coconino had beaten Prescott.

The Panthers jumped on top 4-0 in the bottom of the first inning. Coconino added two more in the second, to lead 6-0. Trailing 9-0 in the top of the fourth, the Badgers got their first run on an Alexis Ingram home run. Prescott crept a little closer by adding two more in the top of the fifth, but still trailed 9-3. The Panthers kept the pressure on with two of their own, and led 11-3 going into the six inning.

Prescott got a solo home run by Fran Larson, but Coconino put the game to bed early with three runs, ending the game on the 10 run rule.

Fran Larson pitched the entire game, giving up five earned runs, while striking out one.

Five separate players each produced a hit for the Badgers. Besides the home runs by Ingram and Larson, Dana Seavey had a double and two RBIs. Maggie Boelts also had a double. Mikayla Reyes singled and scored.

Coconino (16-12), advances to the next round of the AIA Division IV softball playoffs, while the Badgers end their season at (6-17).
