Wrestling Comes to Tim's Toyota Center

04 January 2013

Local High Schools Sponsor Mile High Challenge

A major high school wrestling tournament will be taking place this Friday and Saturday, January 4 and 5 at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.  Jointly sponsored by Prescott High School, Chino Valley High School and Bradshaw Mountain High School, this tournament will bring many of Arizona's best High School wrestlers to the quad-city area.

In addition to the high school tournaments, both Varsity and Junior Varsity, there will be a middle school tournament and a college match between Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and Chadron State College.

The high school tournament will start on Friday and continue on Saturday.  The ERAU vs. Chadron match will be Friday afternoon, around 4 P.M.  On Saturday the middle school tournament will run alongside the second day of high school wrestling The high school tournament will culminate Saturday with the awarding of championship belt buckles to the first place winners in each weight class and medals to other places.

Drew Ryniewicz  will open the tournament on Friday singing the National Anthem.

The Box Office will be open at 8:00 AM. And doors Open to the Public at 9:00 AM - there will be wrestling matches all day, both days. The event begins at 10:00 AM both days.

The cost will be $10 for an adult 1 day pass, $15 for two days.  A family pack of 5 tickets is available for $30 for 1 day and $50 for 2 days.  Children age 5 and under are free.

This is the first Mile High Challenge, and all three sponsoring schools are hoping that it will take its place in the high school wrestling schedule in future years as a preview of the Arizona State High School Wrestling Tournament, being held at Tim's Toyota in February.  Tim's Toyota Center is a great facility for a wrestling tournament, being spacious enough for a large number of mats to wrestle at one time, with great stadium seats for family and fans to see all the wrestling.

So come out and support your high school and middle school wrestlers.
