On Friday, the Prescott Badgers traveled to play Independence High School in Glendale. Prescott wanted to win this game, and close the regular season with a winning record, before they entered playoffs. And, the Badgers started out right, by steadily moving down the field until they were able to score the first touchdown of the game on a 10-yard touchdown run by Jake Jarvis, #23. After that, the Badgers seemed to relax a bit.

Then, only a minute into the second quarter, the Independence Patriots scored, tying the game, 7-7. Prescott seemed to be a bit more focused after that, but it would be 7 minutes more before they scored again, bringing score to 14-7. This score held as they entered halftime.

During halftime, the Patriots celebrated both Homecoming and Senior night, making for a festive evening. And, when the football game continued, Independence seemed as if they gained added incentive, and they again tied the game about halfway through the quarter.

Prescott answered shortly after, with a 60 yard punt return by Skyler Schiller for a touchdown, bringing the score to 21-14. After that, nothing more was needed, although Prescott would add two additional touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Brenden Howell's extra point kicks were all good this game, which helped the Badgers maintain their momentum. Jake Jarvis rushed for an impressive 215 yards, and scored the first two touchdowns. But, it was a true team effort as Skyler Schiller, Ty Asay and Levi Carter all scored touchdowns in the second half of the game.

Coach Beneitone was proud of his team, noting that they started the season at 0-4, but showed their character as they then went on to win six in a row.

Prescott will play Sabino in Tucson next Friday, November 9th. Sabino has a record of 10-0, so this will be a challenge.
