Roughrider Softball Powers Past Paradise Valley

Jaydee Boursaw Homers Three Times and Drives In Nine During Doubleheader Sweep
Jaydee Boursaw saw a banner day for the Roughriders as Yavapai College swept a Saturday doubleheader over Paradise Valley Community College, 11-0 and 8-1. Boursaw hit three homeruns on the day and knocked in 9 runs. Yavapai is now 31-4 overall and 27-3 in the ACCAC standings. Paradise Valley falls to 12-16.


In the opener, the Roughriders scored in every inning. Boursaw hit her first home run of the day knocking in Mikayla Newham and Andrea Sotelo. Raelynn Rios got in the long ball act in the third inning with a solo shot. Sotelo continued her torrid pace hitting her 8th homer in 8 games. Boursaw hit her second home run in the fifth inning.

Amy Robinson got the complete game shutout scattering six hits and striking out 7 Puma batters.

In the nightcap, four Rider hitters had multiple hits led by Karissa Pena who was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two doubles. Mahina Chong was 2 for 4; Raelynn Rios was 2 for 3; and Kalee Mabray was 2 for 3. Boursaw was 1 for 4 knocking her third home run of the day.

Kiana Spencer started the game in the circle throwing 4.1 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 4. Santana Parra threw the final 2 innings allowing only 1 hit.

YC has a big matchup on Tuesday, March 28th against fellow ACCAC DI nemesis Pima Community College (27-12, 21-9). In their first meeting in Tucson, YC swept a doubleheader winning 12-4 and 15-2. Tuesday’s games will start at 12:00 PM at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott.
