Yavapai College Softball Outscores Paradise Valley 17-0 in Home-Opening Doubleheader

PRESCOTT- Everything was working for the Yavapai College softball team on Tuesday in their home opener doubleheader as the Roughriders shut down Paradise Valley in both games in route to a combined score of 17-0.

In game one, Yavapai College pitcher Amy Robinson had traffic on the bases allowing seven hits in a mercy-ruled shortened five innings but gave up no runs while striking out three. Meanwhile, the key offensively was sophomore Karissa Pena who knocked a two-run homerun over the wall in a five-run Roughrider second inning.

The success would continue for Yavapai College in the second game as Andrea Sotelo went two for three on the day picking up a double and three RBIs in the five inning mercy-ruled victory.

On the circle, freshman Santana Parra picked up her fourth win of the young season tossing four innings only allowing three hits and no runs while Kiana Spencer came in for an inning of cleanup allowing a hit while striking out the side.

Yavapai College softball is back on the road against Pima Community College for a doubleheader on Saturday in Tucson and won’t return home until Saturday February 18th for a twin-bill against Mesa Community College at noon and 2pm.
