Struggles in Second and Third Quarter Harm Eagles
PRESCOTT- The Embry Riddle women’s basketball team had trouble digging out from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter and fell to the Simpson University Red Hawks 73-67 at home on Thursday night.

After a competitive first quarter, struggles in the second and third quarter would ultimately doom the Eagles as the team was outscored 32-16 and entered the fourth quarter trailing by 15 points.

The team would come alive in the final quarter and chip away at the deficit. As the clock continued to wind, the Eagles cut the Red Hawk lead to two-points with seconds left but time ran out before the Eagles could finish the comeback attempt.

“The last five minutes we played a really good game, we finished well,” said Eagles’ junior guard Kylee Riebel. “We just couldn’t finish it at the end.”

Riebel lead the Eagles with 19 points on the evening while Katana Martina added 15 and Haley Villegas chipped in 14 points.

Meanwhile, the Red Hawks were paced by a whopping 25-point performance from Esther Wofford. Additionally, Fallon Greenhaw added 14 points while Whitney Rodriguez ended the night with ten points.

The Eagles have now lost two straight ballgames and will look to rebound Saturday at home against Pacific Union College with a 6:30pm tip-off.
