The Roughrider softball team dropped an ACCAC doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Bill Vallely Field, 10-1 and 5-0. YC falls to 24-10 on the year and 16-8 in the conference standings.
In the opener, Yavapai managed only 3 hits against the Bear pitching. Dustie Durham took the loss on the mound despite only giving up 3 earned runs.
It was a pitcher’s duel through four innings in the nightcap before Phoenix put two runs on the board in the fifth and followed that with 3 in the sixth. Amy Robinson got the loss surrendering 11 hits while striking out 7.
Offensively, Jocilyn Ellis and Mayhina Chong each had two hits.
YC begins the second half of the conference season on Saturday, March 19th at Paradise Valley Community College. YC swept a doubleheader from the Pumas in February, 5-0 ad 10-0. Saturday’s twin bill begins at 12:00 PM.

For the third consecutive week, a Roughrider softball player was named ACCAC DI Player/Pitcher of the Week. Dustie Durham garnered the honor this past week. Dustie was 2-1 on the week while beating Lake Region and Howard College. Dustie threw 19 innings while only allowing 11 hits and 2 base on balls. In addition, Dustie struck out 16 batters while giving up just 3 earned runs. She also went 8-20 at the plate, 9 RBIs, 7 runs scored with 3 home runs.
