Bill's Newscast: Hwy 89 Detour

12 November 2018

Be prepared for a detour.

Plan on overnight closures if you travel on Highway 89.

ADOT crews are installing new drainage pipes across the roadway.  Highway 89 will be closed in both directions from Deep Well Ranch Road to Highway 89A from 8 pm to 5 am Sunday through Thursday nights.  As a detour, drivers can use Deep Well Ranch Road to access north and southbound  89.  All truck traffic is being diverted to Willow Creek Road.  The closures are expected to be in effect until early Thanksgiving Day.   Meanwhile, construction on Highway 260 between Camp Verde and Cottonwood will be taking a winter break.  This is due to a colder and wetter October than anticipated.  The good news is all lanes and roundabouts between I-17 and Thousand Trails Road will be open before the project shuts down.  Construction, including putting down the final pavement layer known as a friction course, will resume next spring following the winter break.

The Prescott City Council meets at 1 tomorrow afternoon to hear an update on the development impact fee study.

Raftelis Financial Consultants is scheduled to give the update, which will include discussion on non-utility development impact fee categories for further evaluation and consideration and projected land use assumptions.  Utility and non-utility improvement infrastructure plans, service levels and a proposed service area and improvements needed due to new development will also be discussed.  Back on August 14th, City Council approved a 266 thousand dollar contract with Raftelis for the impact fees study and an analysis and development of utility and solid waste rates.  The Council meeting will be held at City Hall on South Cortez Street.
