2 Liter soda bottle bombs found in Cottonwood area.

Cottonwood Police have many questions after 2 suspicious items were found by residents yesterday morning.

Detectives believe these items were 2 liter soda bottle bombs, one of which exploded. Sergeant Monica Kuhlt says detectives are trying to determine who put them together, what accelerant was used and why they did this. Kuhlt explains it’s not known why no one in the area of East Mingus Avenue reported hearing the blast. A fire crew on scene detonated the second device and it was seized as evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

Clarkdale Police are alerting area residents of a spoofing scam.

Earlier this month, Clarkdale Police received a report that their phone number had been spoofed in an attempt to get money. The suspect supposedly identified themselves as a police employee and told the reporting party that she had a warrant and needed to pay it.Caller ID spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your display to disguise their identity.Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information. The Clarkdale Police Department wants people to know they don’t call citizens to solicit money for warrant payments or otherwise. If you receive a call like this, report it at (928) 634-2921 or to your local law enforcement agency.
