Bill's Newscast: Looking Towards the Whiskey Off-Road

The Whiskey Off-Road isn’t that far away!

Open Space and Trails Committee

The Dewey-Humboldt Open Space and Trails Committee meets at 4:30 tomorrow afternoon for an update on a funding request for a new biking and hiking path.   The Committee is making a request for 15 thousand dollars to be included in the 2019 Budget.  The money would be used for a path at the end of Foothill Drive and extending to Lazy River Drive.  Town of Dewey-Humboldt officials say the Foothill Extension is a social trail developed by frequent ATV travel.  It would require minor grading, a culvert in the wash and a bench or 2 for users.  The Committee meeting will be held in Council chambers on Highway 69.

Humboldt Unified School District Board

School safety will be discussed by the Humboldt Unified School District Board at 6:30 tonight.  According to Superintendent Daniel Streeter, recent events impacting school safety merit a review of the safety protocols within the District.  Streeter says the District takes safety very seriously and all schools and departments have detailed emergency plans.  Streeter will give an update on District procedures and the work of the Safety Committee during this school year.  The meeting will be held at Bradshaw Mountain Middle School on Turquoise Circle in Dewey-Humboldt.

PUSD Board Meeting

The Prescott Unified School District Board meets at 5:30 tonight to consider a travel request for 5 Prescott High School students to go to Zeitz, Germany.  The meeting will be held in the District Office Board Room on Granite Street.

The City of Prescott is requesting use of portions of the Courthouse Plaza for the Whiskey Off-Road Bike Race.  The Race is scheduled to take place from April 27th through the 29th in the Downtown area.  The Prescott Downtown Partnership has reviewed the application and has referred it to the Supervisors because elements of the request don’t comply with the County’s current policies regarding events at the Courthouse Plaza.  The Board will consider the request during its meeting at 9 tomorrow morning in the Administrative Services Building on Fair Street in Prescott.
