The Prescott Valley Town Council meets at 5:30 tonight to consider an adjustment to the contract with CH2M Hill. CH2M Hill operates and maintains the town’s utilities, including the water and sewer systems, the reclaimed water system and the recharge facility. According to Utilities Director Neil Wadsworth, a 5 year contract was approved in 2015. Prior to the start of the current Fiscal Year, Town staff negotiated an amendment to the contract, which includes no increase in compensation from the previous year. This action is due to CH2M Hill incorrectly reporting on water sampling at one of the Town’s well sites. This had caused the Town’s water system to be in violation with water quality standards for arsenic reporting. As a result, the contract is being adjusted to reflect a more than 36 thousand dollar penalty over the first 6 months of Fiscal Year 2017. CH2M Hill has made changes to their quality control practices to help ensure a similar situation won’t happen again. The Town Council meeting will be held in the Library Auditorium on Civic Circle.
